More Website Traffic? Consider What The Wright Brothers Discovered

It seems like every business with a website is clamoring for more leads, traffic and visitors to their site. But, history tells us a fascinating story that shows you how you can dramatically improve what your website can do for you... if you do the right (Wright) thing first.

what the wright brothers can teach you about internet marketingInternet marketing expert Perry Marshall tells an intriguing story about the Wright brothers, how they approached their invention, and what it teaches us about putting first things first when it comes to getting the most out of your website.

This principle applies whether you are a remodeler, a landscape architect, an attorney, a financial planner… heck, any business that owns a website and wants to get more leads and revenue from it.

In the early 1900’s, we all know about Orville and Wilbur Wright and their efforts to create a flying machine. What is less known, but instructive for our purposes, is that there were others racing to be the first in flight. One of the more high profile inventors was named Samuel Pierpont Langley. He was heavily funded by the Smithsonian Institute.

The order is everything-- first things first

increase website trafficLangley’s approach was fundamentally different than the Wright Brothers. His approach was fundamentally flawed, causing his efforts to be doomed from the beginning. Langley hypothesized that the key to flight was providing enough thrust to push the craft ever upwards. Up to that point, flying craft could not travel fast enough to generate the necessary lift to fly.

Langley’s hypothesis turned out to be true… IF you addressed (and improved) another factor first.

What the Wright brothers knew and Langley didn’t

You see, the Wright Brothers determined that first, they had to significantly improve the aerodynamics of the aircraft. They worked to maximize aerodynamic lift, first with nobody on the plane, then with a single person on the place, then with 2 people on the plane. Once that was firmly established, they could replace the second person with an engine and then be able to have sustainable flight.

Langley chose for over a year to work on an engine powerful, yet light enough to propel the plane fast enough to allow it to take off and stay up. The problem was that he didn’t first work on improving the aerodynamic dimension. He simply took what he had and thought that more and faster air flow would take care of the problem.

The result: In both highly publicized attempts, his plane took off, then crashed. Why? Because his plane’s wings did not provide sufficient lift no matter how strong the engine’s push. It was doomed to fail.

What in the world does this have to do with your website? Everything!

Go here to read how this is an absolutely essential key to Getting More Customers From Your Website.  Get this right and you will be light years ahead of your competition!
